What is Awana? |
The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of the phrase, "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed" (2 Timothy 2:15).
Awana exists to reach children and youth with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. Awana uses a blend of: (1) Council Time - a worship experience and presentation of the Bible appropriate to the needs of children and youth: (2) Handbook Time - devoted to scripture memory and understanding with as much one on one instruction and supervision as possible: (3) Game Time - a highly charged and fast moving time of recreation and competition, supervised diligently and capably by our trained staff.

About AWANA® |
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be
ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Awana is an international, non-denominational, Bible-based organization whose goal it is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.
Awana consists of several different

The purpose of the Opening Ceremony is to bring clubbers together at the beginning of the evening. It consists of prayer, American and Awana flag pledges, and general announcements.
Game Time
The purpose of Game Time is to provide structured fun that interests kids, but also teaches them the value of teamwork and acceptance.
Handbook Time
Handbook Time consists of scripture memorization, explanation, and learning. Leaders provide one-on-one time with the clubbers answering their questions and listening.
Council Time
Council time consists of praise and worship along with a Bible-themed message to the clubbers (usually led by the pastor).

Uniforms
and Uniform Inspection
An important part of Awana is to establish unity and discipline
within children (and leaders). Awana uses uniforms to assist in this effort. Uniforms are
also a neat place to display awards.
In order to ensure uniforms continue to be an important part of our
Awana program at
Uniforms are available to all clubbers after completing their entrance booklets. Order forms will be sent home to parents upon doing so. Please contact the pastor or Awana Commander if you should have any concerns about the uniforms.
Theme Nights and Special Events
Every year we will be holding theme nights to encourage participation among the leaders and clubbers of our Awana Club also because theme nights are a lot of fun!
The 2004-2005 Awana Year will include the following theme nights: SDRAWKCAB Night, Retro Night, Black-Out Night, Good SAM Night, Team Night, Round-Up, Crazy Mixed-Up Night, Veggie Valentine, Crazy Hat Night, and Beach Party.
In addition to theme nights, we will also have special Saturday celebrations such as our 2nd annual FIESTA during the Christmas season, and a Family Field Day to wrap up the year.
Last but not least, we will have AWANA Sundays to encourage participation of our clubbers in regular church services, and have the opportunity to honor our clubbers parents and families.
Information will be sent home prior to all theme nights and special events to ensure all clubbers and their parents are aware of current happenings.
The
Awana Store and Earning Shares
Each Awana clubber has the opportunity to earn what we call shares. Shares are simply Awana money to be spent in the Awana Store.
The Awana Store houses many items that kids love from small novelty toys to large items the clubbers can save for. Store nights alternate weekly so that all clubbers have the opportunity to earn shares and take advantage of this unique opportunity.
We do accept donations of new toys and items that might persuade kids to earn and learn.
November
is Good SAM-aritan Month
During the month of November, our clubbers will be collecting
canned, boxed, and non-food items to aid in a community food closet at
In an effort to encourage good will, we will have a special theme night called Good SAM Night where the team that brings the most items will be awarded a prize. Consolation prizes will be given to all other teams.
A list of needed items will be provided to the clubbers on Black-out Night, October 31. We will begin collecting items on November 7 and continue through November 21 (Good SAM Night).
Boxes will be set up for each team in a designated area and stats will be posted weekly.
Dues
Dues are requested, but not required by Awana Clubbers. The 50 cents per week, or $16 yearly (per child), aids us in off-setting costs associated with the program. These costs include prizes and AWANA materials.
