PURPOSE  & PLAN  for the  PRAYER  TOWER

Many years ago, the men and women of Salem came together in an extraordinary spirit of unity in a desire for true Spiritual awakening in this area. They agreed to pray earnestly until this desire became reality. Some of the men even designated a special place in the woods near one of the churches for prayer. Each time someone visited that place to pray, they would carry with them a small stone and leave it there as a testimony of faithfulness in prayer.

Over time, the number of people involved in this effort dwindled but did not totally cease, and some are still praying faithfully today toward this same goal of revival.

The Prayer Tower, as well as the bridge and access roads now being built, are a continuation of these efforts in prayer. These facilities are not considered by Calvary Church to be ones that we own but rather to be facilities that belong to the community of Christian Churches in this area.

While the Prayer Tower is not yet fully completed, it is now operational. We intend to add many facets to its usefulness and beauty. For one thing, we will add a rock walkway, this fall, in order to commemorate the stones that were so faithfully brought to that first place of prayer. Indeed, you may wish to bring a rock yourself as you visit to use the facility and your stone will be added in some way to the others already used.

We invite all Christians, regardless of church affiliation, to take advantage of this beautiful place of prayer. We only ask that you remember the purpose for which it is being constructed and the tireless devotion to prayer that inspired its existence so many years ago and that continues today in this Holy Place that has been dedicated to prayer for God's will to be done in our lives and our community.
